Tilem, also known as the “bulan mati” or “dead moon” ceremony, is a monthly Hindu Balinese ritual that happens during the new moon phase. In Balinese Hinduism, the new moon is considered a time of heightened spiritual power, and Tilem ceremony is held to honor the gods and ancestors and to cleanse oneself of negative energies.
