Uluwatu is probably the most popular surf spots in Bali that has stunning views of cliffs, temple and sunset. It is located at the southern tip of the island, and only 30 minutes away from the airport. For your information, this dive spot is strictly for intermediate-expert surfers only; as the breaks in Uluwatu needs a very technical and advanced skills to be conquered. Things can get wilder at the monsoon seasons, where the swells can get as high as 15 feet.
Uluwatu has a couple of different sections, spread out within about 1,5 km. The Peak, is the top-performance right wave situated in front of the Suluban cave. Normally, the wave works best with a south-southwest swell; there can be any wave size, but better go offshores in the dry season. Be careful with sharp reef, big crowds, and powerful waves. The best time to visit is between April and October.
Surf merchandise shops, surf schools, board rentals and fix can be found easily in every corner. Many surf camps with beautiful view overlooking blue ocean are available at affordable cost, some of them offer best-value money for surfing trips and yoga package.
Canggu Canggu is the most happening beach town in Bali for the last five years. With the highest concentration of expats living in the area, especially Australian surfers, have made the surfing culture grown rapidly here. Surf merchandise shops, surf schools and board rentals can be found easily in every corner. Canggu has three different breaks near Berawa Beach, Echo Beach, and Batu Bolong. Each of them has a little bit of everything to cater to both beginners and intermediates surfers. The inside reef creates fun long rides, and the lefts tend to be a bit longer than the rights. Medewi is a laid back beach town in Jembrana region, about two hours drive from Canggu. Everything is pretty much basic in the area; most people come here for a specific reason SURFING. It has a rocky beach with a peaceful vibes and famous for its long left-handed waves, that can be up to half a kilometre long. The best waves come from the south and southwest swell, and southeast or northwest winds most of the time can be too much to handle. Medewi is recommended for intermediate and advanced surfers.
