Despite the absence of natural attractions, there are still places to visit and discover more about Balinese culture and way of life upon wandering around Denpasar. The largest city on the island is home to several significant historical landmarks and monuments, in addition to a number of remarkable architecture. The main streets of Denpasar are lined with restaurants, malls, shops, and businesses selling al kinds of goods.
Denpasar – Must Know Insights
While Denpasar is popular among Indonesian tourists, international visitors usually do not stay here over night. They stay in the popular destinations like Canggu, Seminyak, Kuta, Nusa Dua etc,
Denpasar serves more of a day trip exploration which can be a really interesting experience off the beaten trail.
If you still decide to spend a night in Denpasar, then there are decent accommodation options in the surrounding areas of Jl Teuku Umar and in the neighborhood of Renon.,
Larger hotels with restaurants, swimming pools, and several contemporary facilities have recently begun to operate and are loved by Indonesian tourists.

BALI DPS – I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport (Bandar Udara)
I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, also known as Denpasar International Airport (DPS), is the primary gateway to Bali, Indonesia.
Located in the southern part of the island, just a short drive from the popular holiday destinations Kuta, Seminyak, Jimbaran, and Nusa Dua. The airport is named after I Gusti Ngurah Rai, a Balinese hero who fought against the Dutch during the Indonesian War of Independence.
Even though, the Airport is often called DENPASAR it is not really in Denpasar, but north of Kuta. If you pla to spend a night near the airport because of a late of early flight, then better choose an accommodation in Tuban or Kuta.
Don’t associate the City of Denpasar with the airport even though it’s DPS.
The greatest Indonesian food in Bali can be found in Denpasar, especially in the warungs, Great city and ideal location for expanding your culinary horizons. Sample some authentic Balinese cuisine such as babi guling (suckling pig) and ayam betutu (roast chicken).
Denpasar also has a nice range of coffee shops and trendier eateries that serve delectable meals, coffee, and snacks at surprisingly affordable costs.
Just drive around Renon area or drive along Jalan Gatot Soebroto leading to Sanur. You will find amazing restaurants and Warungs.
If you decide to spend a day in Denpasar, then we suggest to rent a car with a driver for a day or rent a scooter if you feel comfortable doing so.

The Werdhi Budaya Art Center Denpasar Bali is a tourist spot of cultural attractions that showcase a variety of artistic performances, such as Balinese dances and gamelan shows, and has become the venue for the annual Bali Arts Festival (Pesta Kesenian Bali).
One of the many monuments worth a visit: The Bajra Sandhi Monument serves as a memorial to the Balinese people’s long historical struggles, including their resistance against the Dutch invasions, that stands in Puputan Square. The rectangular monument is built in the “Tri Mandala” architectural style, three layers of the courtyard and three floors of the building.
Being a location to conduct business, it won’t be difficult to hail a ride from Gojek or Grab (online taxis), if not rent your own scooter or book a car with driver for the day..
There is no public transportation system that you could use to get around Denpasar.
