Light Sound Vibration (LSV) is a multi-sensory sound healing experience at the intersection of science, art, and spirituality.

LSV technology elevates the sound healing journey by converting sound into physical vibrations that resonate within the body. This is made possible through custom-built water beds equipped with vibrational speakers, paired with synchronised light frequencies designed to stimulate optimal brainwave states. In our LSV Resident Series, we welcome artists from around the globe to create their unique Light Sound Vibration experience from the ground up. From selecting frequencies and instruments to curating scents and tea blends, every detail is thoughtfully considered. Each element embodies the artist’s vision, inviting you into a deeply immersive and meditative state.

The first in the series comes from Thai multi-disciplinary artist NOTEP. Having launched with a weekend of live sessions in February, it continues with recordings from those performances, featuring NOTEP’s blend of vibrational sound, song, and guidance.

Galungan is one of the significant festivals celebrating the victory of dharma (virtue) over adharma (vice). It marks a ten-day period when the spirits of the ancestors are believed to visit the island. Balinese Hindu families will welcome the spirits with prayers and offerings. Dressed in traditional clothes, women balance on their heads the offerings made out of fruit and flowers, stacked up high and neatly in baskets. The streets are filled with the beautiful ‘penjor’, tall bamboo poles decorated with different patterns of woven palm leaves, while the lower base is a unique covered stand made to place some small offerings. The Galungan celebration will go on for ten days until Kuningan, the day when the spirits leave earth.

Kuningan marks the end of Galungan; the time when the ancestor spirits leave the island to return to their heavens above. Special offerings such as yellow rice are prepared (Kuningan is derived from the word kuning, which means yellow) and placed together with fruit and flowers in a small bowl made out of coconut leaves. The offerings stand as a symbol of gratitude for all that life has given in happiness, health and prosperity. It is believed that the ancestor spirits will ascend at midday and all special blessings and offerings should therefore take place before noon.

Tumpek Uduh is important day in the Balinese Hindu calendar that is dedicated to agriculture, plants, and the environment. It is also known as Tumpek Wariga or Tumpek Pengarah.

On this day, Balinese Hindus perform various rituals and ceremonies to show gratitude and respect for the plants and trees that provide food, medicine, and other resources, and to ask for their continued protection and abundance. The word ‘uduh’ means plants or vegetation, and the day is often referred to as the Balinese ‘plant blessing’ day.

The main ritual of Tumpek Uduh involves a special offering ceremony known as ‘mekendek’, where offerings of fruits, flowers, and rice are placed in front of plants and trees as a sign of gratitude and respect. This ceremony is often performed in fields and gardens, and is intended to ensure a good harvest and healthy growth of crops.

In addition to the offering ceremony, there are also other rituals that are performed, such as purification ceremonies, prayers, and blessings, to ensure the health and well-being of the plants and trees, and to honor the important role that they play in Balinese culture and society.
