BIASA Presents “Believe” at JFW 2026: Fashion as a Testament to Hope

Jakarta, October 29, 2025 — In a world shaped by transformation and new possibilities, BIASA proudly presents ‘Believe’ at Jakarta Fashion Week 2026, a collection celebrating resilience, empathy, and the enduring pursuit of beauty and hope in ever-changing times.

Showcasing 70 looks, each piece is an expression of empathy and inner strength. Translucent, layered fabrics evoke vulnerability, while sculptural, textured forms reflect endurance. Together, they create a dialogue of persistence, an important reminder that beauty and meaning can always be rediscovered, even amidst uncertainty.

Believe speaks to our enduring faith in humanity, in our capacity to rebuild, to find balance amid chaos, and to nurture optimism. The collection delves into the delicate interplay between fragility and strength, despair and renewal, darkness and light, embodying hope as both an act of courage and a true reflection of the human spirit.

The Seven Sequences of “Believe”

The collection unfolds through seven chapters, each revealing a facet of a journey; a continuous exploration of belief, resilience, and renewal.

1. The Beginning – Wasabi green and bone white tones evoke awakening, purity, and the first strings of hope.

2. A Reflection of Clarity and Faith – Airy and fluid fabrics in translucent sky blue and crisp white convey calm, innocence, and optimism.

3. A Moment of Duality – Black and white, with indigo stripes symbolizes balance, conflict, and strength through contrast.

4. Practicality and Resilience – Textured quilting and frayed finishes in light cotton denim reflect groundedness and endurance.

5. Renewal through Imperfection – Hand-brushed white and light grey meets nudes. The interplay of brushstrokes and natural tones represents restoration and acceptance.

6. Passion and Courage – Earthy, warm hues in orange and garnet red reflect vitality, emotion, and determination.

7. A Return to Grounding – Deep tones of the earth in brick red and cacao express completion, warmth, and faith in continuity.

Each sequence weaves emotion into craftsmanship, creating a visual narrative that reminds us to believe in transformation.

Contemplative Design Language and Techniques

Believe is shaped by a balance of structure and fluidity, expressed through the interplay of textures, volumes, and light. Each look is crafted from natural fabrics including cotton mousseline, silk, linen, cotton denim, chiffon, and cotton organdy, reflecting BIASA’s enduring commitment to conscious fashion since inception.

Delicate fabric manipulation techniques bring each silhouette to life: origami folds, pavlova meringue-inspired sculpting, ruching, pintucks, pleats, frayed and snipped finishes, hand-cut braided fringes, embroidered polka dots, and traditional weaving. These details create dimension and depth, while appliqué in cotton mousseline, silk, and chiffon highlight artisanal precision.

Every piece in the collection is hand-created, emphasizing the value of craftsmanship as a defining element of BIASA’s philosophy. The brand continues to uphold the importance of the human touch, celebrating the artisans whose hands bring each piece to life. In a changing world shaped by technology and automation, BIASA believes that craftsmanship has never been more vital. It reflects authenticity, heritage, and the enduring dialogue between past, present, and future, where the mark of the human hand remains at the core of what BIASA stands for and creates.

Hand-painted silks using the batik technique, hand-brushed linens, and marble-printed kaftans add BIASA’s signature artisanal approach to the collection. Labyrinth appliqué reinterprets traditional stripes, and skeleton shirts and skirts made from repurposed salvaged fabrics offer a modern statement on sustainability.

Accessories are designed as thoughtful extensions of this narrative. They include petal-shaped bags symbolizing hope, trapeze and honeycomb laser-cut archival bags representing legacy, distressed leather boots reflecting resilience, and long-tie strappy flats and heels inspired by roots, symbolizing grounding and growth.

Believe bridges couture sensibility with everyday wearability, combining sculptural and voluminous forms with soft, flowing pieces. The collection spans womenswear, menswear, and unisex designs, celebrating fluidity in identity and belief.

A Message of Optimism and Community

At its heart, Believe is an ode to optimism. “This collection was born from reflection, from acknowledging the turbulence of our time and choosing to respond with empathy and responsibility,” says Susanna Perini, Founder and Creative Director of BIASA. “Fashion, to me, has always been a language for what words cannot express: resilience, beauty, and hope. Believe is about having faith in alternatives, in humanity, and in compassion as our most enduring form of creation. At BIASA, we continue to celebrate the irreplaceable value of the human touch because in a world increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence, it is craftsmanship that reminds us of who we are and what connects us.”

The Believe collection is dedicated to Warwick Purser, a long-time friend and advocate of craftsmanship whose passion for Indonesian artisans and cultural heritage continues to inspire.

Believe embodies the spirit of BIASA’s artisans, collaborators, and community, the people who shape the brand. The power of this collective, their unity, creativity, and shared strength, is woven into every thread, reaffirming BIASA’s philosophy that the extraordinary, when created with intention, can be found in simplicity.

About BIASA

Extraordinary Simplicity

A playful twist on the Indonesian word for “ordinary,” BIASA was founded in 1994 by Italian-born designer and art gallerist Susanna Perini in Bali, Indonesia. Deeply inspired by the island’s culture, the brand fuses local craftsmanship with Italian design sensibility and contemporary expression.

With boutiques and art galleries in Bali and Jakarta, BIASA continues to embody the philosophy of slow fashion and artisanal excellence through its clothing and its sister platform, BIASA Art, which supports Indonesian contemporary artists. The brand’s world unites design, philosophy, and humanity under one guiding belief: that simplicity, when crafted with intention, becomes extraordinary.
