Feby and Tipi Jabrik have been in the restaurant scene in Bali since the early 2000s, their first bar Black Dog was an institution for the old Bali heads to meet, hang and listen to good music. They opened Art Cafe their soulful cafe in Ubud in 2008 and a couple of years later opened Mantra right on the Petitenget strip in Seminyak. Seminyak was booming and Mantra was the place to go for a party, they showcased the islands best young talents and their musician mates from around the world would often bless us with an acoustic gig.
As Feby and Tipi’s two young children grew up they moved their focus to their surf hostel Kosta enjoying a slower paced life, with earlier mornings to spend down at Legian with the groms.
They began building on Kosta Berawa in 2019, which is also when they met chef Dom. As the build went on and they faced the challenges of 2020, they knew that Dom was the person to have at the helm of their new kitchen and a trusted business partner. Together they agreed that they wanted to take Mantra into a new direction of sustainability, consciousness and positive impact to the local Bali community. GOOD Mantra was born, an evolution into plant based living. We believe your body is your temple and your food is your mantra.
Our kitchen dishes up wholesome plant-based eats, focusing on unique ingredients from small local farms. Almost everything is made in-house, from our nut-milks to granolas to zingy relishes, chutneys and sauces, with the exception of breads from our good friend at Baked, just down the road.
Our earth-to-plate philosophy is reflected in the bar, too, where our Balinese mixologists has designed a list of drinks inspired by the landscape and the seasons. We make most of our drink selections in-house with love, from native-plant sodas & jamus to our very own bitters, tinctures and vermouths, which are shaken and stirred in our cocktail range.
