When we first came to Gili Trawangan in 1982 we fell in love with the island.
It was the island’s natural beauty, its wonderful white sand beaches, pristine azure waters and amazing views of Lombok’s rugged northwestern coastline that we loved so much.
Over time we witnessed detrimental development with large concrete structures or buildings on the beach that obscure and obstruct the beautiful views of the neighboring islands and the ocean.
We wanted to create something that embraced the island’s natural beauty and suited the tropical island feeling. We decided to build Pearl Beach Lounge with a semi permanent concept which can be removed at any time. We decided to use all natural and renewable building materials. Sadly this was not possible for the kitchen due to hygiene issues however since we would be using concrete we ensured the kitchen would be placed on the opposite side of the road and adorned by natural structures to minimize its aesthetic impact.
The result is a structure with flowing organic lines that melds with the environment and its surroundings.
