Gili Island Weather – North Lombok – Coastal Area & Beach

The Gili Islands—Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air—have a climate distinct from Lombok’s mainland due to their location and smaller landmass. These islands tend to be slightly drier and sunnier year-round compared to both northern and southern Lombok, even during the wet season. This difference is due to their proximity to the drier northwest region of Lombok and their open, coastal location, which allows for more consistent sea breezes that help moderate temperature and reduce humidity levels.

In the dry season (April to October), the Gili Islands experience hot and sunny days with very little rainfall, making them perfect for beach activities, diving, and snorkeling. Temperatures average 29-32°C (84-89°F), with mild evenings ideal for outdoor dining and nightlife.

During the wet season (November to March), the Gilis still receive less rain than most parts of Lombok, with short, occasional showers, especially in the afternoons. The islands are generally sheltered from the intense rains that affect the mainland, particularly the mountainous northern and central regions of Lombok. Temperatures remain warm, around 28-31°C (82-88°F), though humidity can be slightly higher.

For travelers, the Gili Islands offer a more consistent sunny climate with less rain compared to both northern and southern Lombok, making them a reliable choice for good weather almost any time of the year.
