What are suitable Indonesia Visa options for Digital Nomads who want to stay in Bali for a few months or even longer?
For now there are a few options that can be suitable if you are a remote worker / digital Nomad and intend to stay in Indonesia – while working for clients OUTSIDE of Indonesia while still being a resident of another country. So you need a Visit Visa (see blow)
Main restrictions for digital nomads
You cannot receive money or make an income in Indonesia. You CANNOT work for clients in Indonesia or get paid here in Indonesia, You need to work for clients or be employed outside of Indonesia, get paid outside of Indonesia, and in that sense, you are just a visitor to Indonesia, needing a Visit Visa that will entitle you to stay here legally.
Freelancers in Bali
You CANNOT act as a freelancer here in Bali (Indonesia) and give workshops, run classes, manage social media accounts for local businesses, act as a model…you simply cannot work and get paid in Indonesia. There is no Freelance KITAS that will allow you to do act as a freelancer. You can get employed by a company but not being self-employed and generate income while working and operating in Indonesia.

Visa Options for Digital Nomads and Freelancer
The options below are, as we stated above, for foreigners who are NOT doing business here in Indonesia.
1. C-Type Visit Visa – Visa for Foreigners staying for 2 up to 6 months
If you stay less than 180 days, the C-Type Visit Visa is a good option. The Visa still is also known as the 211A Visit Visa will allow you to stay 60days, while the it can be extended twice for 60days each without that you need to leave Indonesia, giving you a stay of 180days.
You can apply for tourist purpose, business purpose, and social purpose (C-Type).

2. Remote Worker Visa – Foreigners who are employed by a company outside of Indonesia
Foreigners who wish to stay in Indonesia while they are actually working for an employer abroad, and while getting paid abroad still being a resident in that country can now apply for a Special Remote Worker Visa for Indonesia.
The E33G Remote Worker Visa is valid for 1 year; it’s a KITAS, which is a Temporary Stay Permit.

3. D-Type Multiple Entry Visit Visas
Foreigners who wish to visit Indonesia a few times per year (multiple entry) but do not want to apply each tome fr a new Visa can apply for a D-Type Multiple Entry Visa. You can stay up to 60 days, but then need to leave the country. technically the stay can be extended like a c-Type Visa, but that would cost extra, for each stay extentions.
