In Case of Emergency

In an emergency in Bali, call 112. If 112 does not connect, call the service directly: 110 for police, 119 for an ambulance, 113 for fire. You dial these numbers exactly as they are, from an Indonesian SIM card or from a foreign phone on roaming.

112 is Indonesia’s single emergency number, and Bali is one of the first regions to bring it in. It already runs in Denpasar and in Klungkung, including Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan. In other parts of the island it is still being set up. Calls to 112 are free. If nobody answers after a few rings, hang up and call 110, 119 or 113.

Ask for Help

In the hospitals and police stations around Kuta, Seminyak, Nusa Dua and Ubud, staff usually speak English. In villages and remote areas, fewer people do. Ask your hotel, your villa staff or any Balinese nearby to make the call for you. People here help, and they know where the nearest clinic is.

How to Dial with a Foreign Phone

  • Emergency numbers (112, 110, 119, 118, 113, 115, 129): dial the three digits, nothing else. Do not add +62 or 00 62. These are short numbers that only work as they are.
  • Bali landline numbers (hospitals, hotels, police stations) are written like 0361 761263. From a foreign phone, drop the first 0 and add +62: +62 361 761263. From an Indonesian SIM card, dial it as written.
  • Indonesian mobile numbers start with 08. From a foreign phone, the same rule: +62 8...

  • 0361: Denpasar, Badung (Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu, Jimbaran, Nusa Dua, Uluwatu), Gianyar (Ubud) and most of Tabanan
  • 0362: Buleleng (Singaraja, Lovina)

Before You Need It

  • Save the numbers: put 112, 110, 119 and the number of the hospital nearest to where you stay in your phone.
  • Know your address: villa or hotel name, street (Jalan …) and village or area. A driver or an ambulance needs this, not a pin you cannot share.
  • Keep your travel insurance’s 24h number with you: private hospitals in Bali usually ask for a payment guarantee before larger treatment.
  • Think about the traffic: around Kuta, Seminyak and Canggu the roads jam, and an ambulance gets stuck like everyone else. If the person can be moved safely, a taxi or car to the nearest emergency room is often faster.
