When it comes to Bali and choosing the location for your hotel it is absolutelx to understand the area you wish to visit. Because of the lack of transportation, small roads, lack of connecting roads, it is of paramount importance that you study the area and maps. 

The Area

Stay here if possible, if you can’t ride a scooter or are comfortable with using scooter taxis. If you need restaurants etc in walking distance make sure to stay near the Jl Batu Bolong, Jl Nelayan, Jl Pantai Berawa, Jl Echo,.

Main “sub-areas” from South to North on Bali’s most popular tourist destination – The Southern West Coast:

• Seminyak
• Petitenget (the area South of Canggu)
• Berawa 
• Nelayan
• Batu Bolong
• Echo
• Pererenan (often considered as Canggu, but not really correct)
• Cemagi / Seseh 

The Main Beaches

The main Beaches, with brown, grey to black sand. Sea conditions can be rough depending on the tide and winds (many surf spots), only recommended for good swimmers. Make sure you can get to the beaches easily when choosing your accommodation. Usually there is a one street that carries the name of the beach (Jl Batu Bolong) leading to the beach providing access to travelers. Motorbike parking mostly available (managed by the local community, expect to pay Rp 2000.
