Update: Travel ban for 14 countries to enter Indonesia has been lifted

January 13th, 2022

International travellers from Angola, Botswana, Denmark, Eswatini, France, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Norway, South Africa, United Kingdom (UK), Zambia, and Zimbabwe can now apply for a visa to enter Bali & Indonesia.

Mandatory quarantine is now still for 7×24 hours.

Indonesia Covid Task Force has published a new regulation so-called “Surat Edaran Nomor 2 Tahun 2022”, signed by the Head of Indonesian Task Force Covid-19, Letjen TNI Suharyanto, on 12 January 2022.

Previously there were 14 countries (restricted countries) added to the temporary ban list, with France as the last addition to the list on 4 January 2022.

Though many countries (mainly in Europe) are strengthening their borders, responding to the significant increase in the number of Omicron cases, the Indonesian government claimed to have prepared a health system to deal with the emergence of the new variant case in the country.

Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin explained most Omicron patients in Indonesia had mild and asymptomatic symptoms. Therefore, they do not require serious treatments in hospitals.

“Patients only need to undergo self-isolation at home by taking vitamin supplements or additional therapeutic drugs that have been permitted to use by the government,” said Budi Gunadi Sadikin. Still, according to the health minister, the increase in transmission of the Omicron variant will be much higher than the Delta variant. However, it requires much less intensive care.

The mandatory quarantine session for all international arrivals is still at 7×24 hours, with twice the PCR test on arrival day and the 6th day of quarantine.

Traveling to Indonesia:

International travellers with passports that are not on the list are still allowed to enter Indonesia with a Visit Visa, fully vaccinated, and following the quarantine protocols.
