16th February 2022
Indonesia has once more on short notice adjusted the travel requirements. Travel regulations for international arrivals in Indonesia have been changing a lot lately, which put everybody in the travel industry on high alert, adjusting to the new situation.
Travelers were required to undergo a seven-day quarantine period, then it was shortened to five days. Effective today, it has changed once again to a 3-day quarantine rule for travellers who have received the third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine (booster).
Travellers with two doses will still have to quarantine for 4nights / 5 days – this has not changed.
A positive step to welcome regular travel into Indonesia once again
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut B Pandjaitan has adjusted the mandatory quarantine time for international travellers coming into Indonesia, who received the 3rd dose.
“The length of quarantine, for both foreigners and Indonesian citizens who have received their 3rd dose of the Covid-19 vaccine booster, will be a 3-day rule,” Luhut stated on Monday (14/2).
Following the condition that travellers will carry out a PCR entry-and-exit tests, the PCR exit test is carried out on the morning of the 3rd day. Once everything is cleared and results come out negative, travellers are free to continue on their journey.
Furthermore, Luhut stressed that those who have finished their quarantine are advised to get an independent PCR test on the fifth day. This is to ensure travellers have not contracted Covid-19, especially the Omicron variant that is currently present in Indonesia.
Afterwards, overseas travellers must report their health conditions to the nearest Puskesmas (public) health facilities.
Current travel regulations put in place as of now.
3 doses (boosted) – 3×24 hours quarantine (2 nights)
2 doses – 5×24 hours quarantine (4 nights)
1 dose – 7×24 hours quarantine (6 nights)
Meanwhile, the duration of quarantine for overseas travelers under 18 years of age will follow the provisions imposed on their parents or travel companions.
As of now, there are multiple, designated points of entry to Indonesia, namely: Soekarno Hatta Airport (Jakarta), Juanda Airport(Surabaya), Ngurah Rai Airport (Bali), Hang Nadim Airport (Banten), Raja Haji Fisabilillah Airport (Riau Islands), and Sam Ratulangi Airport (Manado).
