Bali’s Evolving Tourism Landscape: Embracing Community-Driven Village Tourism

Bali, November 20, 2023

In a recent strategic development, Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, emphasized the vital role of the Indonesian Recreational Parks Association (PUTRI) in enhancing the tourism potential of village destinations across Indonesia.

This initiative, aimed at boosting tourist interest, was announced during the inauguration of PUTRI Bali’s 2023-2026 leadership at the Badung Regent’s Office.

A Strategic Shift Towards Sustainable and Inclusive Tourism

Sandiaga Uno highlighted the unique strengths of these community-managed and tradition-rich village destinations. Their global recognition underlines their potential as key attractions, not just in Bali but throughout Indonesia.

“Village tourism has its own strength rooted in community and traditions, as it has received global recognition. Hence, these villages will become the prime attractions in our tourism, not just in Bali but across Indonesia,” Uno stated.

Moreover, Uno pointed out the central role of PUTRI in further developing Indonesia’s tourism potential. He urged the organization to actively participate in the development of village tourism, emphasizing the need to integrate these villages into the broader tourism framework.
