The “Health & Wellness Tourism” Program as a New Opportunity Towards Better Tourism Governance in Bali

Bali – Indonesia

The recent WTN SUMMIT-TIME23, held on October 28-29, 2023, generated ideas about using Health & Wellness Tourism to make tourism better in Bali.

Mudi Astuti, Chair of the World Tourism Network (WTN) Chapter Indonesia, shared these ideas in a press release on Monday, October 9, 2023.

The WTN SUMMIT-TIME23 brought together professionals from three generations in 133 countries. These people are experts in tourism and have experience as tourism ministers and in international tourism organizations.

Mudi Astuti talked about the word “Sustainability.” She said we shouldn’t only think about culture and the environment when we hear this word. According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), sustainability includes three things: helping the community and the economy, taking care of the environment, and preserving culture. These three things are all connected and can’t be separated.

Mudi said, “We need to understand what ‘Sustainable Tourism’ and ‘Quality Tourism’ mean. We should talk about these ideas with the media and the public to make sure everyone understands. This will help make tourism better, more responsible, and sustainable.”

This plan hopes to help Bali manage the number of tourists it can welcome and make Bali a more comfortable place to visit.

The WTN is committed to helping Bali’s tourism grow and improve, and they want to make Bali’s future in tourism even brighter.
